This was my first race ever! Even though it ended up being virtual b/c of the pandemic, it was still pretty fun to accomplish new goals in new domains. I didn’t know what a good baseline target was, so I looked up the average Broad Street Run finish time for my gender/age group from the year before and it was 8:52/mile. That became the target.
I found a free 12-week half-marathon training program online and just followed it from zero basically. I just show up consistently, listened to my body, and vlogged about it online while being socially distanced from a lot of homies. I tracked every run pace, distance, and how I felt.
12 weeks later: 10 miles at 8:48/mile! Just a bit under my target, but it still felt like an accomplishment! It also started my running career which has honestly been inconsistent and highly weather dependent lol.
